Russian antitrust gets all info from Google, calculates fine

MOSCOW, Mar 31 (PRIME) – The Federal Antimonopoly Service has received all necessary information from Google on its work on the Russian market in 2014 and has calculated a fine for the U.S. company, Yelena Zayeva, head of the service’s department for connection and IT regulation, said Thursday.

“An official representative of Google came to the Federal Antimonopoly Service duly on Thursday, at 10.30 (Moscow time) in the morning to explain the company’s violations and sign documents. A protocol was made; a defender took part in drawing up the protocol,” Zayeva said.

“In this regard we can say that the Federal Antimonopoly Service has calculated the fine, which can be imposed on Google for violations in Russia. We will not voice the figure until it’s approved in due order,” she said.

According to earlier reports, Google could face a fine of 8% of its turnover on the market in case of no mitigating circumstances.

The Moscow Arbitration Court earlier upheld the antimonopoly service’s conclusion that Google had abused its dominant position on the local market of preinstalled application stores by obliging producers to install other services along with Google Play.

Google had already presented its documents, including on incomes from Google Play and products distributed along with the applications store in the country in 2014, Zayeva said.
